Find the right charts for your aircraft type with the Lido eRouteManual

Aside from ensuring that they get to the airport on time and grabbing a coffee to go, pilots must complete many tasks when preparing for their flights. One of these crucial tasks is to set up the flight folder in their charting application, to ensure that all required charts are available with the single tap of a button - from the Airport Moving Map, to the Standard Instrument Departure Chart and Instrument Approach Chart. If the aircraft type and charts are specified in the ARINC 633 flight plan, the charts will be loaded automatically. But what happens when this is not the case? Read on to find out...

Manually selecting all flight-relevant charts requires a significant amount of time and effort, so we have introduced two new features to help simplify this process: the aircraft type filter and the possibility to retain the chart setup for the departure and destination airports (available from Lido eRouteManual version 5.2 onward).


Aircraft Type Filter

The aircraft type filter helps pilots to quickly find the right charts for their aircraft type. In the aircraft type filter, all aircraft types operated by your airline will be available for selection - this is tailored to each airline's fleet, to ensure pilots only see relevant options. Once the aircraft type has been selected - either manually or automatically through the inclusion of the aircraft type in the ARINC 633 flight plan - all relevant charts will move to the top of the selection. To ensure that pilots still have an overview of the full content, irrelevant charts will be greyed out and moved to the bottom of the chart list, but not be completely hidden. By filtering out fleet-specific charts that are not of interest to the pilot, we are helping pilots to find necessary information faster.


Retain Chart Setup

The possibility to retain the chart setup for the departure and destination airports saves pilots both time and effort. When activated, this option allows for the preserving of the charts that were previously added to the clipboard whenever the newly loaded flight reverts the order of the airports. This feature is particularly helpful for flight crews that operate to and from the same airport throughout the day.


Additional Functionalities

In addition to the aforementioned features, we have added two more functionalities with this release: the hiding of the own-ship position and frequency box, and increased the airport weather information available.

The hiding of the own-ship symbol during flight operations allows pilots to manually hide or show the symbol on the terminal charts and enroute using the location button. This feature was introduced to ensure that our application remains compliant with the certification specifications outlined in AMC 20-25.

Next, a movable frequency box can now be brought up or closed with the single tap of a button. With this feature, pilots no longer need to switch between two charts, but rather, can show a frequency box while the Airport Facility Chart is still displayed in the background. This makes it easier for pilots to find necessary radio frequencies while inflight.

Finally, we have increased the amount of airport weather information available by including the automating terminal information service (D-ATIS) for 70 major aerodromes worldwide. The information can be found in the airport attribute lookup window under the airport information tab. This provides pilots with more relevant information, such as runway in use, visibility, temperature, and wind speed and direction, leading to increased situational awareness.


Overall, the features in this release will ease pilots' workflow, particularly in the pre-flight preparation phase.
